His work on school boards and community commissions has focused on collaboration, fairness, transparency, and creating opportunities for students and families.

Supporting 11 public school districts, seven Public School Academies, and 18 non-public schools, I help ensure policies and programs effectively address the diverse academic, social, and operational needs of students. My work includes oversight of operational procedures, program evaluation, and regulatory compliance to maintain accountability and quality. I actively contribute to strategic planning initiatives and policy discussions that strengthen educational outcomes across Ottawa County, while mentoring new board members to build strong governance practices.

Relations Commission2025–Present
Serve as a liaison between city leadership and the community to promote equity, inclusion, and mutual understanding among all residents. Provide informed guidance on policies and initiatives that prevent discrimination, encourage fairness, and uphold rights protected under local, state, and federal law. Lead educational programs, facilitate dialogue, and support community engagement efforts that build awareness and foster collaboration across diverse groups.

Supporter of veterans, community service initiatives, and charitable outreach through active involvement with the Sons of the American Legion. Committed to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans while supporting programs that address their needs and those of their families.
Eagles Aerie 925
Active supporter of community service, charitable outreach, and civic engagement through the Eagles Aerie. Contribute to programs that support local families, veterans, and individuals in need while promoting fellowship, volunteerism, and community pride.
Elks Lodge 1200
Engaged in civic service projects, youth programs, scholarship initiatives, and community support activities. Serve as the Most Valuable Student Scholarship Coordinator, helping deserving students pursue higher education and long-term success.
VFW Post 2326 Auxiliary
Contributor to programs that honor veterans and support military families through active involvement with Auxiliary initiatives. Previously served three years as Club Manager at the VFW, supporting operations, events, and outreach with dignity and respect.

Served for 22 years on the GHAPS Board of Education, including eight years as Board President. Helped guide strategic planning, policy development, fiscal oversight, and community engagement while supporting student achievement and long-term district stability.

Grand Haven Schools Foundation
Supported early childhood education and student enrichment through strategic planning, fundraising, and outreach. Also registered ghsf.org and created the Foundation’s original website to strengthen its public visibility.

Michigan Association of School Boards Board of Directors
Represented Region 3 districts at the statewide level, supporting governance, advocacy, and professional development for public school boards across Michigan. Earned all MASB certifications and recognitions, including the President’s Award.

Ottawa Area ISD Board of Education
Helped provide oversight and leadership for programs and services supporting public school districts, public school academies, and non-public schools throughout Ottawa County, with continued service in the present term.

Served on the Board of Directors and as Co-Chair of the 2025 Grand Haven Pride Festival, helping guide planning, outreach, volunteer coordination, and inclusive community celebration.
